WORKPLACE VIOLENCE

SECTION 1 - COMMITMENT

The Agency and the Union are committed to promoting and
maintaining a safe environment for DFAS employees. The Agency
and the Union acknowledge a mutual responsibility to work with
all employees to maintain a work environment free from violence,
harassment, intimidation, and other disruptive behavior.

SECTION 2 - GENERAL INFORMATION

A. Physical violence, threats, harassment, intimidation,
and other disruptive behavior in the workplace will not be
tolerated in DFAS. Such behavior includes, but is not limited
to, oral or written statements, or other actions that communicate
a direct or indirect threat of physical harm.

B. The Agency and the Union agree that acts, or threatened
acts of workplace violence must be dealt with swiftly to prevent
further occurrences. Individuals who commit such acts may be
removed from the work area/Center and may be subject to
disciplinary action up to and including removal, criminal
penalties, or both, if warranted. Whenever possible employees
will be removed with minimal disruption from the area, as
required by the situation.

SECTION 3 - REPORTING PROCEDURES

We agree that all DFAS employees have the responsibility to
report workplace violence to a supervisor, manager or appropriate
security personnel.

SECTION 4 - ASSESSMENT TEAM

We agree that each Center will develop a Workplace Violence
Assessment Team. This team will be responsible for reviewing
instances of Workplace Violence and will make recommendations
concerning training and other actions necessary to carry out the
objective of this article.
