page 16123Five Career Groups, each with pay band levels. A career group and level replaces what are currently grades.
The five Career Groups:
A) Career Group 1 (CG 1) Scientific and Engineering Research
Level 1 is the equivalent of GS 5 – 12; Level 2, 13 – 15. Level 3 is a minimum of 120 percent of the minimum basic pay rate for GS-15 and a maximum of the basic pay for Senior Executive Service (SES) level 4 (ES-4).
B) Career Group 2 (CG 2) Professional and Administrative Management
Level 1 is the equivalent of GS 5 – 11; Level 2, GS 12 – 13; Level 3, GS 14 – 15; Level 4 is a minimum of 120 percent of the minimum basic pay rate for GS-15 and a maximum of the basic pay for Senior Executive Service (SES) level 4 (ES-4).
C) Career Group 3 (CG 3) Engineering, Scientific, and Medical Support
Level 1 is the equivalent of GS 1 – 4; Level 2, GS 5 – 7; Level 3, GS 8 – 11; Level 4, GS 12 & above to CG 2.
D) Career Group 4 (CG 4) Business and Administrative Support [these are the clerical support positions for CG 1 and 2 along with firefighters, police and security guards].
Level 1 is the equivalent of GS 1 – 4; Level 2, GS 5 – 7; Level 3, GS 8 – 10; Level 4, GS 11 & above to CG 2
E) Career Group 5 (CG 5) College Cooperative Education Program
Level 1 is the equivalent of GS 1 – 5; level 2, GS 6 – 8; Level 3, GS 9 – 11; Level 4, GS 12.
Supervisory Pay pages 16124 and 16141
Different levels of supervision are designated as A, B, C, and D. Each is entitled to a supervisory adjustment which can be reduced or removed if the duties change. “A” gets a 10% adjustment, “B” gets 20%, “C” gets 30% and “D” gets 45%.
