Workforce Shaping Subpart F
4. Single Process and standard for Action for Unacceptable Performance and Misconduct -
The NSPS document says that the regulations eliminate the requirement for a formal, set period for an employee to improve performance before management may take an adverse action. I do not believe this action is appropriate. It denies the employee an opportunity to improve, and make corrective actions. It also increases the chances of DOD making an inappropriate decision. An adverse action should be well thought out, not based upon emotion, and be completely investigated. Eliminating the set period harms the employee, and the Department by increasing the chances of mistakes being made.
