   DoD NSPS Comments:

I am writing to express my concerns about changes to work rules in the Department of Defense (DoD).  The proposed regulations, known as the National Security Personnel System (NSPS), were printed in the Federal Register on February 14, 2005.  This message will be sent to both DoD and my representatives in Congress.

I am angry that these proposals seem to treat the employees who help defend our country as the enemy.  Like the Social Security Administration employees, I am confident that the DoD employees work hard and are committed to their tasks.  I believe that the implementation of the proposed NSPS regulations will hurt the agency’s mission to serve the American public.  I am very upset by NSPS.  This system will change the way workers are paid, evaluated, promoted, fired, scheduled, and treated.  These rules would create a system in which federal managers heighten the practice of favoritism rather than serve the civil concerns of the American people with integrity.  I, as an experienced SSA employee, believe that this same type of treatment will be imposed upon SSA employees.

I urge you to force DoD to rethink this proposal. The integrity of all Americans are at stake.   After all, the Federal Government is the highest level of government in American society.  If it fails to provide a stable and secure environment for its employees, surely, other levels of government will follow.  What then?
