March 2, 2005 DoD NSPS Comments , DoD NSPS Comments: I write to express my concerns about changes to work rules in the Department of Defense (DoD). The proposed regulations, known as the National Security Personnel System (NSPS), were printed in the Federal Register on February 14, 2005. This message will be sent to both DoD and my representatives in Congress. My biggest fear/concern is favoritism among managers, thus creating a hostile work environment for those employees who are "not in favor" with the current management, whatever the reason. Will there be any controls over the management to ensure that this doesn't happen? It should work both ways for it to be an effective and productive work environment. As for my second concern, civilian deployment: Federal employees signed up for civilian jobs; we did not enlist in the military. And as civilian employees, our duties "above and beyond" should not include a tour of duty in far-off lands, unless we specifically request such duty. Sincerely,
