March 2, 2005 DoD NSPS Comments , DoD NSPS Comments: I am extremely concerned about the proposed NSPS and its impact on hard-working, dedicated D.O.D employees. I have reservations about an "open-ended" pay for performance system which might ultimately result in a system of favoritism and partisan rewards. And this becomes even more of a concern if basic employee rights to question (grieve) are taken away. I worry, in general, about the reduced role of Unions in the system. As a Union activist and official for some 15 years now, I daily see the extreme importance and great contributions which we make available to ALL workers (members and non-members alike). And I worry about a system where deployment can be done basically at the drop of a hat. I am very proud to be a small part in the essential and crucial mission of supporting our Military. But I do not feel that the NSPS recognizes or is the proper means of managing the great work that we all do. Sincerely,
