February 28, 2005 DoD NSPS Comments , DoD NSPS Comments: i was working for a company a few years back as a mid level supervisor and this company tried a plan similiar to NSPS. What management soon discovered, was that employees, who were afraid of not getting "their" proper recignition, stopped communicating with others. after two years my company revised the plan, back to its original state, the reasons. 1. Communication amoung emploees was lower. 2. supervisors who had built "friendships" with some of their employees could not rate them fairly, for fear of causing grief in their friendships. 3. the internal shops became a "me" work zone with employees only caring what they were doing for recignition, causing our once great "team" to dwindle to almost non-existant. 4.employees would hold information to themselves, for fear that somebody else would benefit from their idea, or results of the certain information. Overall we as a company scrapped the format, feeling that we oncehad a great work environment that no longer existed, lack of communication, caused slower production times, morale was at an all time low, employees developed a "suspecious" outlook toward eack other. And finally communication from employee to supervision, became less and less with time, the employees withdrew, from management, unless they had something good to report about themselves. Sincerely,
