February 25, 2005 DoD NSPS Comments , DoD NSPS Comments: After review of the 'highlights' of the new NSPS (I opted not to perform a full 185 page review) it brings to mind a couple of analogies. (1) Over the course of 26 years of combined Federal Service, including a stint on a MSC Partnership Council, one of my favorite phrases with regard to knee-jerk changes such as this new and improved system is - 'IF IT AIN'T BROKE, FIX IT ' TIL IT IS' . All under the recently politically acceptable, key-worded guise of MISSION, SECURITY, and FLEXIBILITY. What a crock. (2) Any of us that have consumed that epicurian delight foie gras know that its great for the restauranteur and the attendees of the feast, but not so great for the rank and file geese. Well, line up little goslings, we are about to be force-fed. However this is done, there must be a mechanism in place that will hold Management and Supervision accountable for abuses and injustices that will surely be encountered. Regards - Mark. Sincerely,
