March 14, 2005 DoD NSPS Comments , DoD NSPS Comments: My name is I am a Federal DOD employee working at Tobyhanna Army Depot in Northeastern Pennsylvania. I have worked here for over 27 years. I am also a combat veteran of Vietnam. I have a few comments to share concerning the proposed NSPS. I am extremely concerned with the fact that my Union will be weakened. I am a firm believer in an employee having the right to a strong and active Union, as we have here at the Depot. If NSPS were to weaken our Local 1647, I am concerned that I may be stripped of my right to Union representation in the case I was unfairly disciplined. I am also concerned with the security of work conditions and practices here at Tobyhanna. Right now, my Union fights for the best possible conditions for all Depot workers. I would be extremely upset if this did not continue. I am also concerned about the security of my wages. Under the current system, I know that I will receive a fair pay and time-in-grade step increases. If my supervisor were to determine my pay, there is a chance I might some day work under someone who dislikes me, and thus denies me of a deserved increase. I think I speak on behalf of my co-workers as well. Sincerely,
