March 9, 2005 DoD NSPS Comments , DoD NSPS Comments: Under this new policy the door protecting workers from favortism, sexual harrassment, and racism will be completely knocked off the hinges. In my shop right now under the system that is currently in affect you can still see favortism, "The Good 'OL Boy" system...it will always be around no matter what. However under the NSPS plan "The Good 'Ol Boy" system can erase jobs for good employees instantly just because they don't hang out with the boss, or agree with unfair practices. Minorities can be terminated at anytime by a racist supervisor who can simply mark down their job performance. There will be no one to complain to or defend that action. Females can be harrassed or forced into crude acts and if they don't agree, can be fired by supervisors, again for low perfomance scores. Now of course this will not be the case for all supervisors, however lets not be navie to say that these actions don't occur everyday by some. The unions that are in place today protect many of us from these types of management practices. Under NSPS the unions that protect us will be pretty much broken up or hold very little power in protecting the government employees from such abusers. As a veteran who has served in the military to defend the rights of this country, I find it quite strange that we have went from country to country defending people's rights for our government and our 50 stars just to have that same government strip away the rights of government employees. I strongly disagree with the NSPS system and I would encourage all government officials concerned with this policy to take a second look at it, and see where the rights of these Americans would be protected. Many of us civilians have served this country in military service, and we all continue to serve this country in civil service. So why strip our rights and worsen work conditions of the people that help this govenment function everyday? Sincerely,
