March 10, 2005 DoD NSPS Comments , DoD NSPS Comments: As part of the 30-day public comment period (2/14/05 to 3/14/05), I'm writing to pass along my concerns regarding the proposed changes to the Department Of Defense (DOD) work rules known as the National Security Personnel System (NSPS). Under the existing DOD rules, a worker's seniority plays a primary role in determining whether or not an employee is retained during a Reduction In Force (RIF) situation. Under the proposed NSPS system, seniority would only play a tie breaker role during a RIF situation. I believe that a workers long time service and dedication to the government should continue to carry a significant amount of weight especially during a reduction in force. A long time government employee should be recognized and rewarded for their continued dedication and loyalty over an extended period of time to the government. Thank you for providing an opportunity for comment on the proposed NSPS system. Please take my comments into consideration. Sincerely,
