March 13, 2005 DoD NSPS Comments , DoD NSPS Comments: I have been a suporter of president Bush and the republican party in the past. Now this turn of events causes me great concern. I don't think that the president and the congress had in mind the outlandish actions proposed in the National Security Personnel System. Why any one would want to change a system that was built up over many years of give and take from both sides, to a system that dosen't include the employee is beyond belief. The voice of the employee was excluded when these bogus rules were dreamed up, even when they were plainly ment to be in the loop. Why should they want to accept a morale buster like that? Don Rumsfeld and Dan Blair should really apologise to the American People for the underhanded way they have acted. I know that they won't, but they have to remember the people have a way of getting back at them and that's at the polls. I hope that these law sutits will bring them back to reality because I think that they going a little bit to far with this. They are good men but misguided, and they must work with the unions to resolve this and not exclude the people who are working to protect them. The last thing I would like to touch on is that these people are civilians. They are not to be ordered around the world like their brothers at arms. I think that you would have to change the name 'Civil Service' to 'The Deployable Service'. These people didn't sign on for that. If it is implemented like it is set out only new hires would be held to that criteria, The present employee didn't sign up for that, and America wouldn't expect them to honor any forceful action to ship them out. This attack on the rights of American workers is by any means 'outlandish' and should be reconsidered by those who proposed it. I urge them to do so as an American voter who will remember. Sincerely,
