March 14, 2005 DoD NSPS Comments , DoD NSPS Comments: I am writting to express my concerns about all the proposed changes under the NSPS. I have worked for DOD most of my adult life and I have served with great honor. I am a disable veteran with 25 years in DOD and love the work and understand how important the work is for our war fighters. As we sent our children around the world to protect and bring freedom to every part of the world, you would think that our country would be trying keep this same liberty at home. I have read all the proposed changes and disagree that this will do anything to make the defence of this country better or make DOD a better place to work. This proposed system will remove most protection from every appeal process that we now know. It will strip away veterans RIF rights and protections, even if they are trying to say it doesn't they do change under this system. It takes away the ability of local unions to bring understanding to almost any issue. It takes away the ability for local managers to bargain things that make working better for everyone. This new system will drive workers away for civil service. In DOD the workforce is getting old this system will drive people to retire. In my career this will be the biggest disappointment, because it appears that DOD doesn't care about their employees. How can Congress think that taking bargaining away from the workforce can in anyway be good for this country. Sincerely,
