March 16, 2005 DoD NSPS Comments , DoD NSPS Comments: I write to express my concerns about changes to work rules in the Department of Defense (DoD). The proposed regulations, known as the National Security Personnel System (NSPS), were printed in the Federal Register on February 14, 2005. This message will be sent to both DoD and my representatives in Congress. I was a federal employee for almost 5 years, and my husband still is an employee at TInker AFB in Oklahoma. I have heard some of what he has talked about and brought home to read from this propsed register. It doesn't look fair and seems like it will revert back to the good old boy system. I dont like the possibilities that could affect my husband and ultimately our household under the new changes. I, like my husband have a hard time understanding how pay banding and pay performance and making changes to some of the MSPB appeals rights, along with changes to collective bargaining have anything to do with National Security and do not understand why it is being presented that way. I disagree with the proposed register and don't feel as if DoD has done anything to improve National Security by making these proposed changes. Sincerely,
