March 16, 2005 DoD NSPS Comments , DoD NSPS Comments: I have reviewed many of the proposed changeds that NSPS will affect. While there are some areas yet to be defined, my overall feeling toward NSPS is that it's a good thing. I've been working for DoD for over six years now and have experienced many situations that would be alleviated under NSPS. The most important change of NSPS is pay for performance. I'm very tired of hearing someone say that since they've worked here for 20+ years, they don't need to work anymore and they can't get fired. We have dead weight and people who are just waiting to retire. These are some of the people who are upset by the proposed changes. I fully agree that there should be offenses that the only punishment is removal from service. We need to have better ways to hire and fire if we want to continue to exist. I know I am in the minority for favoring NSPS; however, I wanted to voice my opinion. Sincerely,
