March 16, 2005 DoD NSPS Comments , DoD NSPS Comments: The proposed NSPS will hurt our loyal, hardworking civil servants in the Defense Department. It will do absolutely nothing to make the Nation more secure or improve our ability to project military strength overseas. In particular, the new pay system is a joke. It has been proven unworkable under current conditions and most dramatically in the period 1860-1883. We are creating a patronage system to replace the reliable civil service system. So this pay system is great if your aim is to grow graft and corruption. I think we have enough of that already among those contractors already doing business with the government. Next, the NSPS really treats civil servants like dirt. The plan takes away any pretense of fairness and denies the right to a day in court - no due process. Last, this is clearly an carpet bombing of the federal employee's union and its right (expressed in law) to seriously negotiate about things that are important to those workers. No, this is not a serious attempt to make the Nation's defenses stronger. It will have exactly the opposite effect. Those proposing this set of rules do not have the best interests of the Nation at heart; they must serve some other purpose and master. Sincerely,
