March 16, 2005 DoD NSPS Comments , DoD NSPS Comments: Message Recipients, through AFGE website: US Senator US House Representative DOD NSPS Comments NSPS DOD Comments AFGE NSPS Comments Date: 16 March 2005 Dear Madams & Sirs: I write to express my concerns about changes to work rules in the Department of Defense (DoD). The proposed regulations, known as the National Security Personnel System (NSPS), were printed in the Federal Register on February 14, 2005. This message will be sent to both DoD and my representatives in Congress. My understanding is that today, 16 March 2005, is the cut off to provide comments: About 30 days. My understanding is also that the proposed rules are sweeping and dramatic. Why the lack of transparency? Why not publish these rules in the newspaper over, say, a period of a reasonable time, to disclose fully their meaning and impact? Why not have a well disclosed, well-organized comment period, providing adequate time for discussion and negotiation? We need work rules that preserve fairness, serve the American people, and respect the rights of Defense Department workers. Sincerely,
