March 15, 2005 DoD NSPS Comments , DoD NSPS Comments: The following comments and concerns are the result of a proposal by the National Security Personnel System (NSPS) for regulations governing DOD Employees. Date of proposal was February 14, 2005. It is my intent to provide these comments to both DOD and my representatives in congress. It saddens and angers me that faithful, hard working employees of DOD are on the verge of losing their rights to equal and fair treatment, as it pertains to pay schedules, promotions, overtime, retention, appeals and many other aspects of are present system. Proponents of NSPS are quick to say the system is fairer and better. I don?t believe this to be true. The power will still be in the hands of the same people. All we have to do is examine the performance historically to know that there have been many documented abuses of the present personnel system. What would lead the proponents to believe that when they are given more power and the people they supervise less appeal venues, the supervisors all of a sudden would become honest and fair. It is my concern that if the proposed NSPS personnel regulations package goes forward in its present form it could be detrimental to all DOD employees. In other words everyone in DOD could be adversely affected. What a way to reward those is supporting the effort of spreading human rights throughout the world by taking their rights away. Sincerely,
