March 15, 2005 DoD NSPS Comments , DoD NSPS Comments: NSPS is detrimental to all civil service workers. The President and the Secretary have used 911 as an excuse to set this country back 20 years in terms of civil rights based on national security. Show us how, with concrete evidence, that civil service workers or their unions have ever impeded this nation?s ability to complete the mission or put national security in jeopardy. We did not cause 911; we responded to it, and said, ?How can we help?, with no negotiation. So, to thank us, you make us ?at will? employees with no rights or voice to make sure we are treated fairly in our place of employment. NSPS is a brand new version of the old spoil system and a new legal form of union busting. If this is truly a free country you will pull this regulation back and start over, this time working with all agencies and the union to create a fair system that works for all parties. Do not put federal employees in a situation that will increase the number of FLRA, MSPB, and EEO cases, oops I forgot, those things are no longer available or limited to employees under NSPS, and if they are available the agency has the right to overturn them or ignore the ruling all together. How is it that we can send our military to war called Iraqi Freedom, to fight for freedom for others, and take away the rights of American citizens. We should all have the right to work in a safe and healthy environment and not feel threaten or scared when we come to work because our supervisor doesn?t like us or the government wants to contract us out. Talk about terrorism, this is it, right here in America and its name is NSPS. The DoD civilians are the back bone of the military, they give their blood, sweat, and tears for this country, and this is the thanks they get in return. Sincerely,
