March 15, 2005 DoD NSPS Comments , DoD NSPS Comments: I believe that the current system is working and can be improved more efficiently than replacing it with NSPS. As it is now, a government employee generally receives a smaller salary than a similar civilian in a like job. A known financial path offsets this decreased salary along with a sense of security afforded a career with the government. While you wont get rich, you will earn a good wage and have piece of mind regarding your future. I feel that if this present system is replaced with one that matches the civilian sector, the very best people will go to the civilian job arena where the rewards will always be higher than government employment and the risks are similar to NSPS. The capable will move on and the quality of the government workforce will be diminished. Sincerely,
