Pay banding, individualized pay increases. This is a great theory. However in practice, at least with Homeland Security, Transportation Security Administration the pay increases are just like before. At least in my and my spouse's personal experience. The minimum pay increase is given just for being alive and upright. No pay increase for extra effort, teamwork, beneficial suggestions that were implemented, etc., etc. Unless the plan is to track and actually determine if the system is implemented as planned, it is just words on paper. I'd love to be rewarded for my and my teams efforts (as would he) but the reality is very different. From what I understand from other friends that are in the 'pay banding' system, the idea on paper is wonderful but the reality is No Change, business as usual. The system may be changed, but retraining and monitoring of management is also key.Otherwise the effect is no change. Thank you
