Sec. 9901.332 Local market supplements. It is totally unclear as to what changes in severance pay, if any, are being established under NSPS. The section mentioned above is the only one which even mentions severance pay, and it makes some vague reference to local market supplements. Why do the regulations not clearly specify whether the severance pay computation formula is being changed or not? The entire regulation reads so vaguely it seems to be allowing management to do whatever they want to the employees, and gives the employees no idea as to what they will be entitled to. This kind of thing does NOT engender trust between management and employees, but gives us the unsettling feeling that we are going to have any potential RIF financial cushion pulled out from under us. If the employees have nothing to fear as to the severance pay computation under NSPS, why not say so? At least let us know what is coming.
