DoD’s civilian workforce role expanding to war-zone combat support functions - USMC 1969-71 - Been here (as a DoD civilian) in 1991 DSDS, volunteered for many over the last couple decades ... now I am older, slower, and medically/age not as suited for more significant participation in combat support functions. What will be the civilian Veterans' fate, what benefits for civilians beyond a ribbon (hardy-thanks and handshake) ... any early retirement or long-term medical care, or "Veterans' Preference" retention-points for those civilians that serve in a war zone, ... "Purple Heart for wounds". Be sure you have many desirable carrots known and ready, because sticks don't work well on pack-mules and worker-bees will fly away from US. Unless this is a Congressional Draft of a civilian, then they get the same as any of our Great American Warriors (... which is far to little when compared with those able worthless others safe at home). <...<...< <...<...< NSPS development has been a broad based - (as a significant stake holder) I hope this was done as a collaborative community, seeking consensus for USAll, failure is not a "National Security Mission" option.
