I do not believe this system will be as fair as we hope it will be because favoritism will be more widespread. I say this because one employee may be given a higher monetary increase over another employee performing at the same level because that person is liked more. Also I think younger employees may receive a higher pay increase then long timers so that they are encourge to stay and reach the top of the pay band much sooner. I think the Cost of Living Adjustment (COLA) should still be given across the board each year and the pay band used as an additional means of awarding employees for performance.
