(Page 9 of Requirements Doc) In your categories of Renewable and Diverse, there is a fundamental problem with the Personnel System at the Air Force level. New hires, with a high degree of professional experience, are not categorized (skill codes) in such a way that this previous experience is utilized to the best advantage of the Air Force. New personnel are not interviewed to insure their backgrounds are accurately reflected. This results in very qualified people not being considered for positions for which they have years of experience. Using myself as an example, I have many years of manufacturing experience including automotive Lean, Six Sigma, and management. I do not show up for any positions in the shop, even though these skills are just beginning to be utilized in the Air Force and there is a tremendous need for experience. I am content with my current position and happy with my employment and my service to my country. Adjusting the promote-ability of hires from the civilian sector would greatly benefit the Air Force and help promote a Renewable and Diverse work force. This would be a direct result of revamping the Classification process
