I am writting this letter to vocalize my distress and disappointment in this decision, reguarding the pay bands and the limitations of the Union. While this may be in fact a done deal and now we are just going through the formalities, I feel it is my duty to speak up. I feel these new rules are opening the door for wide range discrimination in the work force and will lead to many lawsuits. To suggest we give one person the power to single handedly destroy someones career is unheard of. To believe we live and/or work in a place that has no bigotry, hatred or discrimination is foolish and dangerous. It is strange to believe that a DoD employee will now be denied a basic cost of living raise, the right of fair treatment and job security, that they would recieve if the worked foe McDonalds. I am as many other DoD civilians a veteran and it breaks my heart to see the rights the me and my brothers and sisters fought, bled, and died for taken away by those who in charge of protecting it. While most managers may be honest and would go about their duties with the highest of integrity, everyone case of dicrmination is more than we can allow. With that said I must also state that I believe change is needed and is long over due. As our president said we are working towards a brighter America, and to get there we have to look at and sometimes change the way we do things. To ensure this country is safe from and stand strong in face of any enemies. But we must not sacrafice our rights to a discrimation free workplace to do it. I believe that we need to seriously reexamine this procedure and add in the human factor and add in protections that will safeguard against the misuse of power. I hope these issues can be addressed. Thank you for the opportunity to voice my concerns. Respectfully Sumitted. Semper Fi !
