I have recently made career transfer from WG-12 to GS-9/11/12 in one of the major Army installations. Under the new Pay Banding System in July 2005 Spiral 1, my future promotion advantage disappears ( from GS-9 to GS-11 in one year, and from GS-11 to GS-12 in another year). My transfer was done based on my new position's promotion potential and pay increase, in return I have to be PCSed to Overseas position working with our troops day and night in from line as an Army civilian employee, sacrificing and suffering the pain of separation from my wife and 4 beautiful childrens ( 15, 12, 8, 6). Again, under the Pay Banding System in Spiral 1 which applies to my new organization, I see I am losing incentive for me to move on working with our front line soliders side by side helping them with the mission critical/essential complex communication equipments. One would imagine that there will be a shortage in new recruits because the future promotion potential in exchange for separation from love ones will be sacrificed under Pay Banding System. Our soldier will not be getting timely and professional help with complex electronic communication equipments which as a result will jeopardize our success on War on Terror and the many lives of our brave soldiers. I sincerely hope that proper adjustment should be made to counter the loss, pain and suffering for me to undertake the new position which will take me away from my wife and 4 childrens.
