In Army, Navy and Air Force Officer Annual Appraisals, the rater must state whether they had direct observation of the member for at least 90 days during the year. I am remotely seperated from my supervisor and only physically see her once every six weeks. We are in constant email and phone contact. I am considered "expert level" in my field and travel TDY frequently. How will the new system protect me from getting just an average rating when my boss contact with me is just reports, emails, and phone calls? I don't have time to play office politics with my responsibilities and travel schedule. Do I have to sacrifice mission support, possibly let quality slip, and reduce my contribution to the war effort to ensure I get enough face time so my 60 hour weeks and superior technical and program integration support efforts are not forgotten because I'm out of sight and therefore out of mind?
