SINCE I WORK FOR ACTIVE DUTY SOME OF THE CONCERNS THAT I AND MY OTHER CIVIL SERVICE CO-WORKERS HAVE ARE THAT SINCE OUR SUPERVISORS CHANGE OFTEN WHAT PROTECTION DO WE HAVE IF WE JUST GET STUCK WITH AN INADEQUATE SUPERVISOR - WE HAVE NO HOPE OF GETTING A RAISE, ETC IF OUR SUPERVISORS DOESN'T WANT TO DO THE WORK OF PUTTING US IN FOR A RAISE - WHETHER OR NOT WE DESERVE ONE - AND ON THE OTHER HAND NON-DESERVING INDIVIDUALS COULD GET A RAISE IF THEY ARE ON GOOD TERMS WITH THEIR SUPERVISOR OR IF THEY JUST HAVE A "GO-GETTER" TYPE. ANOTHER CONCERN THAT WE ALL SHARE IS WHAT IS TO KEEP AN ACTIVE DUTY SUPERVISOR FROM FIRING US SO THAT THEY CAN IN TURN HIRE THEIR BEST BUDDY THAT JUST RETIRED FROM THE MILITARY OR A FAMILY MEMBER - THAT PRACTICE IS ALREADY PREVELENT - BUT WITHOUT SOME TYPE OF SAFE-GUARD IN PLACE IT WILL BE OUT OF CONTROL - HOW DO WE PROTECT OURSELVES AFTER INVESTING SO MANY YEARS OF OUR LIVES - IT WOULD BE NICE IF YOU COULD COUNT ON EVERYBODY TO BE FAIR AND HONEST BUT THE REALITY IS THAT THERE IS PLENTY OF "DEAD WOOD" IN ACTIVE DUTY AS WELL AS CIVIL SERVICE AND SINCE CIVIL SERVICE WORKS FOR ACTIVE DUTY I WANT TO AVOID LOSING MY CAREER BECAUSE OF SOME "RETIRED ON ACTIVE DUTY" OFFICER OR SARGEANT OR EVEN WORSE SOME NEWBIE STAFF SARGEANT FEELING HIS/HER OATS - WHAT RECOURSE WILL BE PUT IN PLACE TO PROTECT CIVIL SERVANTS AGAINST THOSE KINDS OF "SUPERVISORS"?
