Comments:

This concerns the elimination of the GS ratings for DoD personnel. Many of us in DoD deal with active military components and our current GS ratings allow the military members to draw a rough equivalence to military grades. This affects not only lodging and flight arrangements, but the ability to speak with recognized authority on a variety of topics. Furthermore, certain civilians fill military billets as flight commanders and deputies. Recommendation: Those civilians who have direct contact with active duty military should have a mititary equivalency rating--either by rank or pay grade (example: EPG O-6). This doesn't need to be on the identification card, but it should be in the personnel records based solely on position and should be included on military travel orders when used.
