Performance/pay.....As a DoD employee for 4 1/2 yrs and 8 yrs in the Army, it is about time that job performance be worth more than just an "atta boy/girl" and a slap on the back. I have seen people that have been GS for 20 + yrs and get away with leaving early or not showing up at all because they only have .....yrs to retire. No one wants to step up and say, "Hey, why should someone who only shows up half the time and is late when they are here get the same pay raise as the person that is putting 40 hrs a week and is on time." These people that are pickitting out side the base are the ones that are getting away with cheating the Government and now they are going to have to do some honest work for the first time in years. Just because you have been doing the job longer than me, does not mean that you are doing better than me. Those that have been around a while should be setting a good work ethic example to the younger generation. When the younger generation see the those that are about to retire with an attitude that they don't have to show up or "that's not my job, I don't have to do that it is not in my job discription.", they start to think the same thing. We are all getting paid for 40 hrs/week. What differance does it make what you are doing??? Your pay is the same if you are doing your "job" by title, or doing something else your supervisor askes you to do. If they think this new system is so terrible, God help them if they have to get a job in the non-government world where it all about profit and loss. They would be out on their ear looking for a new job in no time. I know many people are afraid of change. But sometimes change is the only way to move forward and get ahead of the people that threaten our very existance in this country. These terrorists hate us because they are jealous of all we stand for and all things we have. We should be thankful and grateful everyday for all things we have and have access to in this great country. If you are one of those that is picketting and thinks this change is a bad thing.....JUST QUIT!!! Go get a job somewhere else. Then you will see that the grass is not alway greener on the other side. God Bless President Bush and his advisors, our Troops, their families, and everyone that helps keep this country safe.
