Performance Mgt: Appraisals have in a lot of cases, unfortunately, become a waste of time. A lot of supervisors don't want to offend anyone and are easy. Some are so tough, no one gets an exceptional. Awards/RIFs are times when these need to be fair. Secretaries are overlooked as far as job titles....my niece was recently told in class (Career Day), "There are no more secretaries". We are required to do so much more with downsizing and new technology. On top of that, when it works, don't keep changing things. Yet, in a RIF, that is usually the first place that's cut!
