I have concerns about pay based on performance. While in theory, that sounds great...however, teaching is a complex endeavor with so many variables. What will be used to determine performance... administrative evals?....too subjective! Test scores?....too dependent on the backgrounds of the students! Parent/student evals?...that really ties a teacher's hands when having to make tough calls with the threat of financial retribution! This concept has been debated in the educational arena for years with no clear cut solution. Going down this road will be a perilous journey. Linda Hopkins M.Ed., Ed.S.
