I am writing to in regards to the adverse action being taken by my employer the DoD that will negatively affect my employment status and potentially result placing me in harm’s way. Under the prosped regualtions all DOD employees will be designated as Emergency Essential or 'EE' I am an employee of the Department of Defense and my position is a Logsitics Management Represtative GS-13. As such I am a forward positioned employee of a DoD activity supporting our men and women of the Armed Forces at various locations within the U.S and Overseas. In addition to having served my country as a longtime member of the an active military component, i.e. I am a veteran. I and my co-workers have been diligently supporting the efforts to stamp out terrorism and make the world safe for us all. Now my employer, is taking action to change my status. Under the new guidlines proposed under NSPS I have been informed that if I do not accept this designation and refuse to deploy to locations like Iraq, Kuwait and other dangerous locations within the world they will require me to relocate to another position at their discretion or terminate me. This is not a condition of my original term of employment, nor has it ever been. Most of my co-workers as long term members of their community have established deep ties within the schools, churches and other institutions of the communities in which they live. Many have spouses that are gainfully employed in the local community. In some cases elderly parents have been relocated and placed into care locally. Special schools for children with special needs have been developed or enrolled in and may not be availabnle at other locations. This forced relocation will place no untold amount of stress on the families and in some cases may result in the break-up of those families as members will be unable to move or secure employment at the new locations. Additionally this adverse action may result in limiting the employees’ attempts to progress as they will be “branded” by their refusal to participate. As such these forced moves due to EE designation may be career ending for many energetic, intelligent and patriotic Americans, who have spent untold amount of hours without compensation helping our soldiers, sailors and airmen prepare for the road ahead.
