I am currently a Co-op employee. I have been in the Civil Service for nearly four years and have only been promoted once. Because the criteria to be promoted in the Co-op program is based on credit hours, I can not be promoted because I do not have enough credit hours to do so until I graduate with my Bachelors Degree. However, I feel that I have learned new skills, advanced my knowledge and enhanced my capacities. I am pleased to hear the proposal for the new system is to have pay increases based on performance, rather than longevity. I am also excited that supervisors will be able to have more flexibility to assign employees new or different work. I feel that I am held back from new work and experiences by the strict guidelines set forth in my PD. I am very excited about the up coming changes in procedure and opportunity. When will this change take place? I imagine not for quite a few years. Will the payroll system be updated as well? I feel it is very outdated and complicated system, especially for inputting and changing schedules.
