5 CFR Chapter XCIX and Part 9901 There is only one thing perceived as more corrupt than “Government” and that is “Corporations”. More specific “Corporate America” i.e. Enron, Worldcom etc… We (Government) are not a publicly traded entity and best business practices are more often than not practiced for long. Take lean logistics: Many big companies decided it might be a good ideal to have stock on shelf when they encountered strikes and a backlog of ships containing a backlog of goods in New York harbor. Disruptions in airports, airspace, snowstorms or strikes caused many companies to rethink and change lean. Is this still best business practice? I find it strange that we use companies like IBM to consult us on how to run our business. This is from a company who just recently outsourced their entire Engineering dept out to INDIA? You see there is no loyalty in Corporate America – You might find people who will give a honest days work for a honest days pay but most people in Corporate America know better than to show loyalty because on any given day the publicly traded entity will move their job to China, India or a host of other low wage countries in order to enrich the share holder. We are in the business of protecting Freedom and Democracy (which entails protecting corporate America) and can not afford to operate like a corporation. It simply goes against all the AF Core Values (Loyalty), if you believe that they hold any weight? To most of us (Government Workers) this is vastly more than a job.
