What is going to stop a supervisor from disciplining or removing an employee that he does not like? Nothing. What is going to stop a supervisor from showing preferential treatment when it comes to pay raises? Nothing. Part of the reason that I work in Civil Service was for the job security. It appears that part of my job is gone. I agree that some workers do not deserve to be paid the wages that they are making, when you consider what their contributions to the job are. But I think that the majority of workers do their jobs and do them well, for the defense of the USA. If wages are reduced, the family is whom will suffer ultimately. Food, clothing and special needs will no longer be able to be met. What once was a budget will now just amount to paying who you can and getting behind in your bills, which could lead to bankrupty and then your security clearance and finally your job. Brown nosing the boss will probably reach an all time high. You better golf with your boss or he could reduce your pay and/or fire you. Many years ago this type of environment was common. that is why Civil Service Reform was implemented, to reduce the power of the supervisors, now they are just giving it back to them. you best watch what you say, always have a doctors slip for any sick leave and by all means make sure that you are your bosses buddy.
