I am looking forward to these changes and commend those who have brought them forward. Having worked for the government for a number of years, I have found a large percentage of people who take advantage of their job security. When a delay happens, most of the comments I hear are "well, at least I get paid by the hour," rather than said employees working to minimize the delay. This ends up costing us all (government employees as well) by wasting tax dollars. The employees who make these type of comments know that since they are in permanent status under the current system, there is very little that management can do to discipline them for poor performance and poor behavior. This is unacceptable. One will find very few business models that are considered successes which promote this type of behavior. Must our government be different? We have a surplus of positions at my place of employment since most people do half the work they are capable of. This money would be well spent bettering the communities of this great nation, rather than promoting the lazy, non-compliant attitudes I find so prevalent in my place of business. Sadly, this attitude also finds it's way down to the children of the community, leading to a societal decline in productivity and morals. I pride myself on providing the best possible product for the dollar I earn. This is why I fully endorse the National Security Personnel System, and feel it will do this great nation a great benefit. Those who think they have much to lose by the system should realize that we as government employees are not special. The National Security Personnel System simply echos the standards to which our fellow countrymen have been held, and it's time that we, too, are held accountalbe for our actions.
