Suggest that team leads also have a say in appraisals. Supervisors very rarely are out on the floor, so it is very hard for them to know what type of initiative is put forth from each employee. The lead of the team knows very well who does the work, how well the work is done, and what has been accomplished. Leads do not have to be given supervisory responsibilities, but each lead is responsible for the program they run so they should have a say in how well each team member works. Not all leads are asked about the performance of their team. There is also the question of supervisors who will give the raises to their friends and not to the people who do the work. This has happened over and over again throughout the years, and supervisors should be penalized heavily for this. Suggest supervisors and upper management be the focus for the first spiral of force development. To instill integrity in these levels would be a huge job, and one that should be tackled.
