I do not normally speak out on issues but I am so frustrated by the DoD’s plan that I am speaking up now. I find it ironic that while DoD finds it necessary to take away union rights and employee rights for DoD employees, today I see U.S. politicians on TV saying how it is imperative that the people be allowed free unions in Iraq and the rest of the Arab world. What about our own defense employees?? Rights have been taken away from these hardworking federal employees continually. I am frustrated that Congress is allowing Mr. Rumsfeld to create a military dictatorship taking over our free country. This shouldn’t happen in America. Employees are being told by managers that there will not be a union to help them after July so they had better just do as they are told. Employees are scared to death. They are already paid less than the same jobs elsewhere. Their supposed annual raise is eaten up by increases in insurance premiums. Under NSPS they will see a net loss. My wife is a federal employee. She cannot retire because her insurance premiums are over $400 and her co-pays are about $100. Her pension will be about $100 after that. I wish my congressman would be more vocal about NSPS. I am surprised he hasn’t spoken up about this. He has helped our installation a lot but what about the Federal employees? This should not happen in America.
