I caution against potential misuse by political parties when they take executive branch control. Will the federal employees be played with as a political football ? One needes to weigh whether the inefficiencies of the existing system can be tolerated versus a potential grim possibility of having a political party in office misuse this flexibility in hiring and firing for political ends.
