I have looked over the newly proposed system, and have come to the conclusion that if this is passed, then almost all rights federal employees have will be basically stripped from them, and there is nothing that the employee can do about it. My understanding of this new system is that employees are no longer going to have a guaranteed yearly cost of living raise, even though the cost to live in today's society get more expensive every year. Also, if an employee would happen to speak their mind, and tell things as they are, they could be subject to an assortment of "punishments" which could affect their lively-hood. After reading this new system, I also realized that a manager that would happen to not like an employee for any reason, they can make things very hard on that employee, and with most of the employee's rights taken away from them, they have to basically sit back and watch everything happen. This new system will cause many families many changes in their lifestyles. I remember when I was a kid, I thought our government was here to protect us and help us to seceded in the "American Dream", but if this system is implemented, the American Dream will be dead for a lot of people, except the very few who are in the positions to make decisions. I have been a government employee for only 2 years now, and so far everything has been great, but with this new system, my manager basically will have the authority to dictate how I live simply by his opinion of me. That in its self scares me, because if a manager is given all that power over their employees, he will be able to pick and choose whose life they would want to make miserable. Maybe the people who wrote this system should think about what life would be like if the shoe was on the other foot, and their employees had the authority to decide when they would get a raise, and how much they make. I believe that if those people sat down and thought about this, and the repercussions that will occur, they would realize that the system we have now might not be perfect, but it is fair. So instead of totally revamping the whole system, why not just take a look at the system we already have in place, and make that one better.
