I'm very concerned about the NSPS as it removes most of the protections from unfair and inequitable treatment of employees. There are many good reasons that the civil service system evolved the way it did. I'm concerned about the prospects for unfair hiring and firing, about cronyism in bonus awards, in advancement and pay raises. I am not one who believes that management can be depended upon or trusted to administer this system equitably. I do not believe that Donald Rumsfeld and the Bush administration had the well being of the Federal worker in mind when proposing this system. I believe that with this system there will be a gradual decline in the well being of the Federal workforce and the the bright and ambitious will seek employment elsewhere.
