Pay Banding - You shouldn't put immediate managers in charge of base pay. Besides implementing the good ole boy system, you are putting a lot of extra stress on the managers themselves. When you can affect someones retirement pay, that's a lot of responsibility. Not to mention the resentment that would occur between employees doing the same job, but not getting the same pay. I was in the military for 12 years. One of the biggest problems I had with their pay system was the fact that married people got more money, eventhough they did no more work. This pay banding would be worse. People would be changing jobs just to find managers that liked them so they could get more money. Therefore, more turnover and more PCS expenses.
