I am against the pay banding. It might be OK with GS pay grades, since they are working different jobs and making different amounts of money based on which step they have attained. However, where I work most everyone is either a 'A' Electrician or 'A' Mechanic. Everyone makes the same base pay on the Wage Board pay system. There is no WB 1, 2, 3, 4, etc. There is only WB00. Therefore, a system where some electricians are making more or less money than others wouldn't work. This would bring about much resentment knowing that someone else is making more money doing the same job. It would also bring up scenarios such as 'Your making more money, you do it'. There would also be more turnover and PCS expenses. If you got on a managers bad side, you could shop around for a manager that would pay you more. Move as you please to gain a higher base salary.
