I've been working for DoD for a little over 2 years. My main reason for leaving the commercial workforce and joining the Federal workforce was for the pay benefits. I feel that the NSPS is taking that away. When you have to rely on your supervisor to determine your pay raise, then you're just asking them to play favorites. No amount of supervisor training is going to change that. I don't understand why the pay system is even being changed. If it's not broken, why fix it? Palace Acquires seem to be the stem to this whole problem. They come in with their degree and think they should start out making more than someone that's been sitting on the same position for 10 years. Just because they have a degree, doesn't make them knowledgable in that position. If someone has been sitting in the same job for 10 years they are definitely better qualified than the student that just graduated. So why pay them the same? Don't get me wrong...I don't have anything against college degrees. In fact I'm currently attending college. I just think that time in grade should be a big factor in your salary. PLEASE RETHINK THIS WHOLE NSPS REGULATION! With this new system in place, there won't be any advantages to working for the Federal Workforce over the Commercial Workforce.
