(Sec. 9901.343 Pay reduction based on unacceptable performance and/or Conduct). I am a civil service supervisor with 26 years of service. I do not agree with tying conduct to pay. There are too many factors that can cloud a supervisors judgment when determining attitude and such things as ‘teamwork/cooperation’. Such things as employee dress, lack of interaction with co-workers, values, race, sex, culture, and religion can all influence a subjective judgment of this sort. I also disagree that infractions of a standard that probably cannot be objective should be documented on a performance appraisal AND a reason to lower pay Additionally, I must say that the nicest people are not necessarily the best at getting the job done. When placed on teams they may follow and go with the flow no matter the direction, good or bad.
