Although the old system may need work, I do not believe the new system will be best for the majority of workers. I am a hard worker. I always do my best. I don't goof off or gossip. But, where I work, that's frowned on. People who goof off and gossip and brown-nose and don't work hard their entire 8 hours are preferred. As it is, I have been cautioned by people leaving my office to watch my back. This new system will encourage brown-nosers, even though they're not the hardest workers, to be rewarded and those who mind their own business and work hard to get left by the wayside. It seems like we're going to be spending more for less; and as a taxpayer who helps pay my own salary and that of those who do brown-nose and backstab, that doesn't make me too happy. People will become more phoney and more brown-nosing and more backstabbing to get ahead at the risk of their coworkers. I see this as a really, really bad idea. Reaching the top of your paygrade and never getting anything more is a bad thing when you continue to excel, but getting left by the wayside because you don't play phoney political games is not the answer either.
