I’m a civil servant working for the Marine Corps. We are an administrative facility for the reserve population. The current workforce structure is 160 civilians, 100 active duty Marines and 275 Active Reserve (AR) Marines. The AR program is designed to rehire “released from active duty Marines” to support the Active Duty Marine Corps population. Based upon the type of work that is performed at our command, this is a miss-use of Marines due to America’s obligation in the Middle East and through out the world. NSPS will not fix this, nor change the mind set of The Pentagon to use their uniform personnel in a more efficient manner. For every two Marines you could hire one cilivilian.
