There are several good points to take away from this attempt at a new paybanding plan. The different organizations should have to ability to tailor the hiring process in order to quickly and efficiently fill open positions. However, many of the new regulations set forth are simply unacceptable. The pot of money used for raises will not help people to work as teams; it will cause co-workers to undermine each other and will lead to the “good ol boy” system taking control of the workplace. Another problem is the ability to ship an employee anywhere they deem necessary. I chose to serve my country as a civilian engineer. I would have enlisted had I wanted to travel the world. The employees must also have a grievance process. A system must be in place for the employee to voice the argument against termination and an arbitration take place to determine a solution. If the courts are going to be kept out of the system, a reasonable process must be put into place to keep the rights of the employee safe. As a whole, it will be a terrible mistake to implement this system without major modifications. The new system is suppose to make the work environment more like industry jobs, however, it has only succeeded in taking away your employee’s rights.
